– Define goals and objectives; develop and administer policies and procedures in keeping with the NB Policing Standards, Police Act and Regulations;
– Provide solid leadership in building a force culture that is respectful, reciprocal and promotes problem solving;
– Lead, manage, direct and organize administrative services activities including human resources and working agreements;
– In conjunction with the Board, develop the Police Department’s annual operating and capital budgets ensuring timely development
and fiscal responsibility;
– Analyze, monitor and evaluate productivity of operations; prepare reports relating to administrative and operational issues;
– Lead the progress on the Strategic Plan; providing quarterly updates to the Board on action items
– Understand the global/local social environment as it applies to policing;
– Participate in bargaining grievance mediation and arbitration processes;
– Work closely with the Towns to ensure corporate alignment in the delivery of critical public safety services;
– Maintain and build partnerships with community, internal and external stakeholders, and;
– Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Ideal Candidate Profile
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced senior law enforcement leader with an extensive background in the field, ideally, a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in leading a police department or a significant division within an enforcement agency. Ideally, a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a track record of continued professional development. Operational experience in various areas such as patrol, investigations, community policing, and administrative functions is essential.
As a recognized leader in the policing community, you have championed creative problem solving and led cultural change, building the buy-in and support of your uniformed and civilian teams along the way. You always ensure that the needs of the community are at the foundation of all that you do.
You are knowledgeable of contemporary issues in law enforcement such as de-escalation techniques and the use of technology in policing. Additionally, you stay informed about evolving legal standards and best practices, ensuring the department adapts to new challenges and maintains the highest ethical standards.
With exceptional interpersonal skills, you understand the importance of building trust and respect in the workplace and can navigate complex social dynamics. You are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and promoting transparency and accountability within your team. Ultimately, you lead by example, fostering a positive, diverse and inclusive culture internally and are known for your strong commitment to eliminate injustice and unprofessional behaviors.
