POSITION:                           Provincial OSI-CAN Peer and Family Support Coordinator

Part-time (15 hrs. / Week), 6 month Contract, possibility of extension

REPORTS TO:                      Program Director, CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg

 Position Summary

The OSI-CAN Peer and Family Support Coordinator will be responsible for the development, implementation and on-going coordination and delivery of peer and family support for the target group (military, community first responders and corrections personal active or retired).  Supports are offered through peer and wrap around mental health models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership in the area of peer and family support
  • Supporting and supervising group facilitators in relation to delivery of peer and family support services
  • Remaining current on best practices in peer and family support programming
  • Creating program and funding proposals
  • Coordinating the ongoing development and delivery of peer and family support services
  • Facilitating integrated and coordinated service delivery approaches;
  • Maintaining a reporting and accountability system for peer and family support services
  • Assisting with regular, internal evaluation of programs and services
  • Establishing strategic partnerships
  • Manage initiative finances in conjunction with finance manager
  • Responsible for the appropriateness and quality of client services
  • Other duties as may be necessary to support the initiative

 Qualifications

  • Certification as a Peer Support Worker or willingness to pursue certification
  • Training and experience in development and delivery of peer and family support services
  • Lived experience and recovery from one of the OSI-CAN target demographic groups
  • Experience providing peer and family support and prevention services
  • Ability to collaborate with and support group facilitators with respect to the development and implementation of peer and family support services;
  • Knowledge of ethics and best practises in peer support;
  • Knowledge of peer and family dynamics, peer and family violence, addictions;
  • Extensive knowledge of services available in the local communities for wrap around support programming and services
  • Ability to establish effective partnerships for program planning and service delivery
  • Experience in writing program and funding proposals
  • Ability to maintain a reporting and accountability system in relation to peer and family wrap around support services
