Safety as an area of provincial program leadership and growth for the college. We are looking for a
experienced leader to be our Academic Chairperson, Public Safety.
Salary: $87,964.84 to $112,287.06 annually
With a focus on exceptional learning experiences, the Chairperson is responsible for the program’s day-to-day operations including hiring, managing and developing faculty and staff; program development and review; capital planning and budgeting; and ensuring program quality and growth. In addition to the day-to-day operations on campus, the Chairperson will oversee development and delivery of public
safety and social service worker programming, on-campus and through contract training and community partnerships, while ensuring industry standards and provincial needs. In addition, the chairperson is responsible for overseeing two specialty training centres to support training for the public safety sector, as well as college security, which includes a police studies mentorship program.
The Chairperson – Public Safety is a member of ACC’s management team, accountable for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, and direction to support staff and all full-time and contract faculty. Over the last decade, Assiniboine has worked with partners across Manitoba to develop successful permanent and contract programs in the field of Public Safety, including Police Studies, First Nations Safety Officer, Community Safety Officer, Restorative Justice, Enhanced Security and professional in-service training programs.
The college is searching for a proven leader with credibility in the sector and experience working with partners and stakeholders who can spearhead the development of the portfolio. The ideal candidate has a background in education and training; experience in at least one of the disciplines listed, (ideally public safety); creativity, innovativeness and a perspective for leadership in the development of faculty and students; as well as, appropriate academic credentials (Master degree preferred). Regular travel within Manitoba will be required.
