On October 19, 1969 Ronald BONKOWSKI went fishing with two friends in the Winnipeg River. Upon arriving at their desired location, the party anchored their boat in fast moving water. The anchor caught on the bottom of the river and pulled the boat down, causing it to over turn. All three men were thrown into the water. Two of the men were able to swim to the shore, however BONKOWSKI was observed going under the water. The over turned boat was found with an anchor line attached at the dam site. Searches were conducted by water and land, however Ronald BONKOWSKI was never located. BONKOWSKI is presumed dead due to drowning.
